Britain is blessed with an abundance of choice when it comes to property for sale. Being such a historical nation homes are available from a range of different periods meaning that buyers are usually sure to find a home that suits not only their needs but also their life aspirations. These types of property for sale range from thatched cottages over four hundred years old, to imposing town houses from the Georgian period right up to art deco mansions and modern builds. This article intends to look at some of the types of property for sale in more detail.
Britain has a categorisation method for older properties, in the trade this is referred to as listing, with residencies being referred to as listed buildings. Listed buildings are fundamentally classified into three separate categories. A grade one listed building has usually been associated with an important event in history and in many cases has been the residence of a particularly famous historical figure; restrictions on development for these types of property are commonplace to preserve the history of the nation.
Grade two buildings are less important but still may have played a part in British history. The final category, grade three are essentially buildings that are being preserved for architectural reasons or simply due to their age. Any buyers should be aware that while these houses are extremely tempting,
any development opportunities will be severely limited.
Georgian townhouses are some of the most desirable types of property for sale within the United Kingdom today. Their imposing frontages are one of the major appeals although their spacious rooms, high ceilings, attics and basements are equally attractive to buyers. This type of property is ideal for large families although it should be remembered that heating costs can be expensive, due to the large windows and high ceilings. It should also be remembered that as with any older property maintenance costs can be considerable.
More modern properties for sale include nineteen thirties townhouses and art deco residencies. These are characterised by interior design aesthetics that simple scream style and elegance. They are usually located in the suburbs due to the frenetic construction efforts and expansion of the cities in the early part of the twentieth century. Morden builds are also located in the suburbs and whilst not having as much character as period properties do have the benefits of ease of maintenance and lower heating costs.
With so many types of property for sale within Britain this article never had the potential of presenting them all. It simply acts as an introduction to British property and the types available on the market. Which to choose is ultimately down to personal preference and budget, but with a conscientious approach it should be possible to find the home of your dreams.
